Joy wins North Carolina Press Association Award for second place in investigative reporting

David Joy wins 2011 NCPA award.On February 17, 2011 at the 86th annual N.C. Press Association Winter Institute. Joy recieved second place in investigative reporting for a story titled, "District reps not always district favorites," which delved into the nomination and electoral practices of county commission representation in Jackson County, North Carolina. Joy Wins Inaugural Karen Nicholson Best Thesis Award

David Joy wins Karen Nicholson Best Thesis Award for Growing Gills: A Fly Fisherman's Journey.On the right is a story recognizing David being awarded the inaugural 2010 Karen Nicholson Best Thesis Award from Western Carolina University. The announcement appeared in the March 17, 2010 edition of the Crossroads Chronicle.

Weekly Fishing Report by David Joy.To the right is an example of the Weekly Fishing Report that appears in each issue of the Crossroads Chronicle. David designed the report and updates information weekly. Readers often call the Chronicle office to ask David for advice on area streams and lakes.

The weekly fishing report is also available on the WNC Fly Fishing Trail website. To view the weekly fishing report click here. The report can be viewed from the website by navigating to the "Fishing Report" page. The WNC Fly Fishing Trail is the only such trail in the United WNC Fly Fishing Trail Fishing Report by David Joy.States and provides detailed information for 15 fishing spots in Jackson County, including tailwaters and small streams for brook, brown, and rainbow trout. The trail has received immense recongnition nationwide and was covered by a New York Times feature on May 15, 2009. Christopher Percy Collier writes in "Chasing Rainbows, and Their Cousins, on North Carolina's Trout Trail," "As trout destinations go, western North Carolina has long remained relatively unknown on a national level, and some contend this has been by design." But no longer as the WNC Fly Fishing Trail opens the doors to travelers and locals alike. To read the New York Times article click here.
